New Youth Advisory Group

We are looking for young people aged 16 to 25 to join the Gloucestershire OPCC and Constabulary’s New Youth Advisory Group (YAG). This is an opportunity to have your voice heard when it comes to policing policy, procedures and practices. Though the group will be managed by the OPCC, the areas that the YAG will look at will be ultimatly directed by panel members. 

What will you get from this? 

• Experience in making real change in local policing practices
• Opportunities to develop skills such as leadership, debate and public speaking
• Opportunities to get a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the OPCC and Constabulary

Who we are looking for

• 16-25 year olds
• Individuals who live, work, volunteer or undertake education in Gloucestershire
• Individuals who want to make a difference in their community

We do want to make this process as accessible as possible so we encourage you to answer questions 10 and 11 in any format you wish. This could be a written response, video response, a piece of art or anything else you can think of! Written responses can be submitted via the above form, all other responses to Q10 and 11 can be sent to Annie White via [email protected] – please remember to put your full name in the email.

Your applications will then be reviewed by a small join OPCC and Constabulary panel and if successful you will then be invited to an informal interview which will take place between the 22nd and 27th October 2026. You will be sent the interview questions in advance and if you need any accommodations then we will try our best to fulfil these. 

Lived experience in the criminal justice system

If you have lived experience in the criminal justice system, your voice is important too. However, due to having under 18s on the panel, we will ask permission to perform a security check on those applying. This involves the constabulary looking at your personal police record. We will not be excluding everyone with lived experience from the panel, but will review records on a case by case basis.
