Police and Crime Panel

The Police and Crime Panel scrutinises and supports the work of Gloucestershire’s Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC).

Made up of 15 elected councillors representing the seven Gloucestershire councils, and two independent co-opted members, the panel meets throughout the year to examine and review the work of the PCC and is under a duty to support, as well as challenge him.

The panel has a number of powers and responsibilities. These include to:

• review the draft police and crime plan
• review and scrutinise decisions and actions
• review and confirm proposed appointments of Chief Constable, Chief Executive, Chief Finance Officer and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner
• oversee the handling of complaints against the PCC and / or Deputy PCC
  The panel is administered by Gloucestershire County Council and holds regular meetings in public.
