"Each year, my office - in partnership with Safer Gloucestershire and
Gloucestershire’s Community Safety Partnerships - commissions a
Perception of Crime Survey. This is for two reasons; to canvas the views of
the public around the issues relating to crime that affect and/or concern them
the most, and to inform my police and crime prevention plan, which is the
blueprint for policing in Gloucestershire. While data relating to crime figures
is generally available online, it is also accepted that people’s perception of
crime is likely to produce different results. Accordingly, the research
contained in this study will enable myself, the Constabulary and our partners
to identify local issues and how they correlate with reported crime, as well as
establishing the level of confidence in partners and knowledge of the public,
as to where, and to who, to report issues and to help formulate partnership
plans". PCC Chris Nelson
