The gross misconduct hearing in respect of Chief Constable Rod Hansen begins on Thursday 16 July 2026 and the public are invited to attend.
The hearing will be held at the University of Gloucestershire’s Park Campus in Cheltenham, a neutral venue for all parties.
The proceedings are expected to run from the 16 July through to 24 of July (excluding the weekend), however proceedings may conclude earlier or later than these estimated dates.
Each day will begin at 10:00 and end around 16:00.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) concluded that Gloucestershire Constabulary Chief Constable Rod Hansen should face a gross misconduct hearing over allegations he failed to appropriately act on a report of a data breach.
It is alleged that Mr Hansen didn’t sufficiently act on information passed to him in October 2022 regarding a staff member suspected of carrying out an unauthorised search of police systems – and accessing third party personal data – following a road traffic collision. He is also alleged to have given a false/misleading statement during the course of the investigation into the data breach.
The IOPC investigation was finalised on 8 August 2025 and concluded that Mr Hansen has a case to answer for gross misconduct.
The gross misconduct allegations relate to alleged breaches of the following Police Standards of Professional Behaviour: challenging and reporting improper conduct; discreditable conduct; duties and responsibilities; honesty and integrity; and orders and instructions.
If the public wish to attend they must register to do so on the OPCC website here:
