Gloucestershire Unites Against Fraud with Launch of New ‘Glass Jar’ website

Gloucestershire’s fight against fraud takes a major step forward this November with the launch of a new collaborative website. A one-stop-shop for all things fraud in the county.

Developed by the Multi-Agency Approach to Fraud (MAAF) group, the Glass Jar webpage will serve everyone in the community, from businesses to residents.

It brings together resources, updates, and support from key partners including Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Economic Crime Team, Trading Standards, Victim Support, the NHS, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, CrimeStoppers and Gloucester City and County Councils.

The Multi Agency Approach to Fraud group was established to tackle fraud through shared intelligence, coordinated victim care, and unified communications to the public. The Glass Jar webpage is the group’s latest initiative to raise awareness, disrupt scams, and protect residents across the county.

Police and Crime Commissioner Chris Nelson said: “Scams and fraud can affect anyone. It’s a crime that often carries with it a lot of shame. But fraudsters are clever and use increasingly sophisticated methods to dupe us out of cash, data and alike.

“This website is a great practical tool for anyone to go to if they have any concerns regarding a scam.

“It’s also a prime example of how effective teamwork and collaboration has a net benefit for the public. All these agencies have come together with a shared aim to help keep the public informed and safe from scams.”

The webpage will feature:

  • Alerts on current fraud trends and scams
  • Advice for individuals and businesses
  • Reporting tools and contact information
  • Educational resources and campaign materials

The launch of Glass Jar marks a significant milestone in Gloucestershire’s commitment to fraud prevention and victim support. Residents are encouraged to visit the site and stay informed.
