Our Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs) support people who have experienced a recent or historic rape, or serious sexual assault and have reported it to the Police. They will support you on your journey through the criminal justice system. If an offence has not yet been reported, we can also offer support to look at the options available to you.
The Gloucestershire ISVA Service is delivered in partnership by First Light and Barnardo’s. Together, we provide specialist support for anyone impacted by sexual abuse, or sexual violence.
We will listen. We will believe you. And we will support you in a way that feels right for you.
This confidential and independent service is open to adults, children and young people of all genders and backgrounds across Gloucestershire. If you have experienced sexual abuse, rape or sexual violence, recently or in the past, our Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) Service is here to support you.
An Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) provides one-to-one emotional and practical support for people who have experienced:
Your ISVA will work with you to create a support plan based on your needs. They can also liaise with other agencies (like the police or courts) on your behalf. You remain in control at every stage.
You do not have to report to the police to receive support. If you’re unsure, we can talk through your options with care and confidentiality.
