Total Investment: £2,500.00
Awarded: 2018/19
Over: 1 Year
Location: Gloucestershire

About the project:

TOE is an alternative education provision for young people not accessing or struggling for whatever reason to access their current educational establishment . We already provide this alternative education and we have extended it this year to include mini expeditions and camps where young people use the bush craft skills they have learned during sessions. We would like to extend this further to include canoe expeditions and would therefore like to buy some canoes and kit for this. The sessions for young people are self funding as we charge out placements to a young person's school or agency and this covers staff salaries, overheads and day to day resources and equipment. However it does not cover large amounts of new kit or specialist kit like canoes. We have recently received a grant from the Postcode Local Fund to build a roundhouse workshop and buy wood carving tools and a smaller grant from Budgens towards expedition kit. Should we be successful in this application we would also be able to use the canoes for our other groups and projects, that's a potential 80+ children within WAM Youth that could benefit, and also lend out to other local youth organisations such as the Scouts.
