About the project:

We have a unique opportunity to influence character development in the young people of Gloucestershire. We aim to empower young people to take control of their lives by learning to solve problems experientially, in an outdoor environment, where the element of risk is controlled. Central to this process is the teaching of life skills though experiential education. Through experiential leaning, we will promote self-expression, self-esteem, commitment and accountability. Through information giving, group discussions and adventure therapy, change is encouraged. We have many disadvantaged groups coming here including those with disabilities, low income families, young people or families in crisis, young carers, those exploring gender issues, and young people with behavioural issues. We also cater for many school trips and youth group residentials. We frequently subsidise groups that might otherwise not be able to afford to come and offer free activities to some local youth throughout the year. However, we do charge those that can afford it to balance our books.
