A response to today’s announcement that the Crown Prosecution Service will not be taking further action against those investigated by Operation Kalmia, which includes Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Police, Suzette Davenport (formally Deputy Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police).

Police and Crime Commissioner Martin Surl said,

“I welcome this decision and am only sorry it has taken so long to reach this conclusion.  Having worked closely with Suzette for almost two years, I would have been surprised if there had been any criminal conduct.

“However, as the IPCC has still not finalised its report, I am unable to say anymore at this time except that this investigation seems to have been going on forever and has cast a shadow over the Chief Constable, and the Constabulary, for far too long. I will be writing again to the IPCC to make my feelings known.

“In the meantime, I look forward to continuing our working relationship and getting on with the important job of protecting the county and providing a service to the people of Gloucestershire.“
