- These are some of the questions PCC Martin Surl and his deputy Chris Brierley will put to the public during a two week tour of the county later this month
Recent changes to neighbourhood policing, how effective they have been and a potential rise in next year’s policing levy will be among the main talking points when Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Martin Surl and his deputy embark on a two week tour of Gloucestershire.
Mr. Surl and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPCC) Chris Brierley will visit 10 communities in all six of the county’s districts during a 10-day period starting on Monday (23 July).
Members of the public will be able to meet local officers, have one-to-one conversations with the PCC and his deputy and complete a survey on how their neighbourhood is policed. Please click here to take survey.
Mr. Surl said, “The impact of Government funding cuts to the tune of £30m since 2010 has been noticeable on the frontline, particularly within local communities.
“When I stood for re-election in 2016, one of my top manifesto pledges was around the future of neighbourhood policing. So when I was re-elected, I asked the Chief Constable to develop a new approach which was launched in January.
“As part of my responsibility for holding the Constabulary to account, I am spending some time out and about within the county, meeting with residents and key community members to ask for their views and thoughts on policing in our county”.

- 30 July – Bishops Cleeve, Parish Council car park
- 31 July – Dursley, opposite Sainsburys
- 1 Aug –Cheltenham, outside Marks & Spencer
- 2 Aug – Newent, Market Place
- 3 Aug – Tewkesbury, Priors Park
